going to the chapel
I feel extremely lucky to get to share Caro and Delaney’s wedding with you all, because the reality is I’m extremely lucky to know Caro and Delaney. The TLDR backstory is Delaney and I went to the same small, Christian college. We always had mutual friends but didn’t really connect until post grad in a (virtual) small group about being queer and being a Christian. It wasn’t long after, that Delaney met Caro and they fell in love!
Their ceremony and reception took place at Normal Heights United Church amidst the annual Adams Avenue Street Fair! As a seasoned wedding vendor, even I was a little shocked at the chaos of the big community event; but as a guest, we all took it in stride and had the most fun celebrating Caro and Delaney all the same.
(Chosen) Family
Delaney and Caro did a beautiful job of including their families and chosen families in their ceremony. Although, none of their flowers were tropical, Delaney’s family has a tradition of exchanging leis. We made blush orchid leis for them to give their parents and each-other. It was one of my favorite parts of their ceremony (the tears were FLOWING at that point).
Their neighbor’s daughter was their flower girl along with their long-time roommate. They shared their couple’s portraits time with their ENTIRE guest list. I really could go on and on and on about the beautiful ways Delaney and Caro reimagined wedding traditions to be their own.
Connecting the Details
One really cool thing about Delaney and Caroline is they are also a small creative business owner! Ever since I’ve know Delaney they have been crocheting and making really cool art, so it came as no surprise all the amazing DIY details she put together for their wedding. The glasses were thrifted, the chargers were crocheted, the place cards all hand stamped!
Floral wise, it made just sense to lean into Caro and Delaney’s boho, eclectic wedding style. They had sent me a Morgan Harper Nichols painting to reference for their color palette and had requested chamomile, eucalyptus, and queen ann’s lace. I also used locally grown phlox, dahlias, and zinnias! Initially, I struggled to blend my more funky style with the boho mix of blooms and colors. Even still, the alter arrangements were some of my own partner’s favorites that I’ve made. After lots of fiddling, I fell in love with Delaney’s bouquet.
Seeing the whole vision come together, the florals were really perfect. But even more importantly, Delaney and Caro loved it.

Queerness & Faith CAN and DO Coexist
I wanted to take the time to share Delaney and Caro’s wedding with you because I admire them deeply. They actively hold their queerness and their faith together and their wedding was a beautiful celebration of that. Getting to participate in weddings, queer weddings especially, gives me hope.
